1. Technology TechSIG: Rapid advances in portable electronic devices and software coupled with significant price decreases in the last decade have enabled the proliferation of technology in modern general aviation and commercial flight decks. Corresponding advances in software platforms for telemetry, data analysis, and flight simulation provide a previously unavailable set of tools to the modern pilot and flight instructor to plan, brief, analyze, and debrief flights.

The NAFI TechSIG is a group of aviation educators who will come together to:

1. Identify and evaluate tools that can be used to improve the quality of aviation training.
2. Develop recommendations and best practices for the use of these tools in contemporary aviation training curricula.
3. Design and implement training programs to the NAFI and aviator communities to improve adoption of such tools in a manner that emphasizes safety and risk management.
4. Collaborate with FAA Designated Pilot Examiners to promote healthy attitudes towards the use of these tools in practical tests and other evaluations.
